10 Years of Authoring

On February 25, 2014, Chasing Shadows was released into the Amazon Kindle store. It came with no fanfare or splashy news, and my big announcement was to post it to my personal Facebook profile just as an exciting thing that I did. This was back in the day when Facebook actually showed you what your friends were doing instead of a wall of ads, new posts from whatever group you joined and forgot about until that exact moment, and three rogue posts from that person whose profile you clicked on once seven months ago because you wanted to be nice and wish them a happy birthday. My, how things have changed.

I knew for a long, long time that I wanted to be an author before I released Chasing Shadows, and that book was my first step on a journey that is still going today. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing back then, except that I was finally telling the story that had been living inside of me for years and was finally ready to breathe on its own.

Ten years and eight books later, I'm proud to say that I now have a vague notion of what I am doing, and am still telling those stories.

We've followed Lissa and Lance through their adventures and struggles in the Star Hunters, we flew with Ro and Char in The Arkin Races, we went along with Death to solve a murder mystery, and then we bobbed along during the worst of the pandemic with a short story collection. Then we hit the high seas with the Southern Echo, and we have lots of adventures and a full world to explore before we say goodbye to that crew.

It's been a wild journey full of so many ups and downs. Plans went awry, new ones came about, I've said first hellos and final goodbyes and even picked up a feline overlord along the way. Some of you have been with me since Day 1, and some of you are new here. No matter how long you've been on this ride, thank you for coming with me.

Here's to the next 10 years. Let's see where we go!
